Taipei Art Expo is launched! Gathering 123 galleries from 8 countries to see the highlights at once. Czech Center Taipei and Children’s Art Education Center participated in the exhibition for the first time
International exchanges are also getting closer and closer! “Czech Center Taipei”, established by the “Czech Economic and Cultural Office”, has been actively promoting exhibitions and cultural exchange activities since it opened to the public in June this year, and this time it also participated in ART TAIPEI. With the theme of “Variety of Stories”, the center brings works by many Czech contemporary artists such as Jan Kadlec, Markéta Vaňková, Tereza Štětinová, etc. to present Czech artists’ interpretation of stories about unknown or distant lands.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The international art fair, Art Taipei, and the inaugural Taipei Art Week are coming this October.
Art Taipei 2024, in its 31st year, will bring together 123 galleries from eight countries, including 73 domestic and 50 international galleries. Blue-chip galleries like Perrotin and Scai the Bathhouse are also returning.
Additionally, curated by the Czech Center Taipei and the Czech Economic and Cultural Office, a special exhibition titled “Czech Stories” will feature works by five artists. The centerpiece is Jan Kadlec’s 10-meter-long installation, “Copy,” which explores whether art still reflects reality positively.
Marketa Vankova, known for exploring the subconscious through art, will present her recent paintings created using cooked spaghetti. These works, seen as a personal diary, originate from her decade-long life in Sicily.
Jan Kalab, a Czech graffiti pioneer will showcase large-scale geometric paintings with a strong experimental style. His works have been collected by the National Museum of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Dior, and Tiffany.

In a time of constant overwhelm with a multitude of digital images, the symbolic role of art is being taken over by audio-visualisation. The artist creates objects and installations in order to convey a compressed interpretation of the contemporary world.

Art lovers are in for a treat this October, as Art Taipei 2024 and the inaugural Taipei Art Week bring vibrant creativity to the city.

Celebrating its 31st edition, Art Taipei will take place from October 25 to 28 at the Taipei World Trade Center, gathering 123 galleries from eight countries. The fair will feature 73 local galleries alongside 50 international ones, including renowned names like Perrotin and Scai the Bathhouse, who are making a much-anticipated return.
A unique highlight is “Czech Stories,” a special exhibition curated by the Czech Center Taipei and the Czech Economic and Cultural Office. It will feature five artists, with Jan Kadlec’s 10-meter-long installation, “Copy” as the centerpiece, questioning art’s capacity to positively reflect reality.
Marketa Vankova, known for her unconventional work using cooked spaghetti to explore the subconscious, will also present pieces influenced by her decade-long stay in Sicily. Additionally, Jan Kalab, a graffiti pioneer, will exhibit his bold, large-scale geometric paintings. Kalab’s works are part of prestigious collections, including those of Dior, Tiffany, and the National Museum of the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
This year, Art Taipei is going fully digital to promote sustainability by eliminating 22,800 plastic VIP cards and 8,400 kilograms of printed materials, leading to an estimated 160-ton reduction in carbon emissions.
