Mc Bed 2

The first version of McBed was created in 1995 to textualize the topic of losing cultural identity in the face of the growing influence of globalization. Thirty years later, Kadlec has returned to the work to give it new meaning. A bed, one of the most intimate human spaces, is invaded by McDonaldization — fast-food principles of efficiency, standardization and control entering all aspects of our lives.

The first version of McBed was created in 1995 to discuss the loss of cultural identity in a globalized world. Its current form emphasizes the process of McDonaldization, which became an acknowledged term for fast-food principles (effectiveness, optimization, predictability, and oversight) that continue to dominate an increasing number of areas of society. The title also refers to the classic Shakespearean tragedy.
